I have used the Turtlebug Camper Hammock Stand on 2-3 scout campouts and it has been AMAZING. It has been so nice to not have to worry about finding trees or worry about driving stakes into hard camp sites. I have a Tensa4 and that thing works great as long as you can drive stakes or find two somethings to anchor to. At some camp sites that isn't possible without being completely separated from your group. The Turtlebug has solved that for me and is extremely well made. I did have a minor issue with one of the metal cables that tension the tarp extensions where the metal cable end came uncrimped, but I was using the hammock stand un-anchored and had a tarp on the tarp extensions but not ground anchored and the wind blew over the whole thing when we were out doing scout activities and pulled out the crimp. I purchased a replacement set - since I feel it was my fault with the improper setup, and everything has been great since. I would definitely recommend this hammock stand over the Tensa4 - especially for peace of mind on where you set it up. The Tensa4 is probably better on a slope or on a few specfic use cases, but for me the Turtlebug is a winner. The photo is a Dutchwear Chameleon 12ft Wide hammock and I use the end tripods to hang my backpack and shoes and stuff off to keep them out of the dirt and keep the creepy crawlies off my stuff. Pretty awesome setup!

This stand is incredible. No more messing with hammock suspension to get it “just right.” Honestly I was only planning to use it for traveling through desert, but after a weekend test run in the ozarks, I think the turtlebug will become a permanent part of my moto camp. For reference, I am using it with a warbonnet blackbird xlc and it fits perfectly.

I was pleased to experience the joy of the Turtlebug while working on the ranch last week. Setup was great. Packabililty was phenomenal, especially compared to much more cumbersome stands that I have been using. It weathered some pretty solid winds and rain without a problem. Thanks for a great product!

The “How to Videos” are definitely a BIG HELP when sitting the stand up. I’m pretty sure the set up time will decrease as I set this stand up more. The ridge line is not as taught as when hanging a hammock between trees, but as I understand when using the Yobogear ridge poles, you do not have as taught of a ridge line. Its great that you don’t need trees nearby to swing comfortably in your hammock. Thanks so much for them helpful videos with your tips and tricks. Happy Hanging Everyone 😁

It was a wonderful weekend away with the Turtle Bug, a Amok Dramr and a Hennessey Hammock Hex Tap with homemade poles to create a canopy. It was fantastic to pull it out and it almost put itself together. No more struggling with poles and sleeves. The gentle shifting as I rolled over was no concern at all and I slept like a baby. I wish I had room in my house to set this up. It would become my regular bed!! 😂 fantastic Product. I Highly recommend.

As a hammocking backpacker, I was ecstatic to see a mobile hammock stand that collapses easily into the case. I personally broke it down by three sections, the stands and the top pole. This method requires keeping the green buttons handy. My one mistake was taking backpacking sized tent stakes. The small stakes weren't adequate in the soils I camped in. Next time, I'll bring spikes and a hammer. One thing I loved about this kit is the ability to point myself into the wind which I had to do several times on a roadtrip through Wyoming. I also am getting a wider tarp. My regular hammock tarps are to short on the sides for confidence in a rain storm.

Finally had a chance to get out and use my gear on a 15-day trip from Georgia, USA up the East Coast into Nova Scotia and New Brunswick Canada. Bear Hunting and Lake Trout fishing at Long Lake Adventures. 5-7 nights in an Amok hammock and Yobogear Turtlebug. Turtle bug was amazing. Set up easily and packed away easily. Very quality gear and high confidence level when using it right out of the bag. Thanks for a great product. Pictures are from mouth of the Magaguadavic river, Bay of Fundy New Brunswick. At the mouth of the Magaguadavic River (in the Passamaquoddy Bay), the tidal level change from high to low tide averages between 7.5 to 8.5 meters (24 to 28 feet). While the upper headwaters of the broader Bay of Fundy can reach world-record tide changes of up to 16 meters (53 feet), the western end near St. George and the Magaguadavic River mouth experiences about half of that maximum range. Even at 8 meters, it is still an incredibly dramatic shift that happens twice every day, causing the river's lower estuary to drastically drain and refill every six hours. Eric Underwood

I got this while waiting for my Cricket 2.0 UL because I travel prepared to hammock sleep (I’ve been full time hammock sleeping over 2 years) and my Tensa4 didn’t always fit in hotel rooms but always worked for compact packing and carryon travel. TurtleBug is something I always recommend to inquiring minds that are curious about hammock camping or hammock sleeping. Even when I set up my Cricket, I push folks to the TurtleBug to not scare them away from their curiosity because they just don’t understand price points (like I didn’t when I was starting out). I love my TurtleBug.

I don’t think I’ll be able to part with this. Now, when choosing a campsite, I no longer have to ask every time whether there are trees or if I can use them. Plus, setting up the hammock is a breeze, and putting up the tarp is easy too. It’s an amazing product. If you're going car camping, you should definitely buy this.

Looking a lighter weight stand does not break the bank. The Turtle Bug does it. Got one for my wife and one for me. I am 72 and have no problem picking up the assembled stand and moving it where needed. Have tried it with a variety of three and four season tarps in sizes of 10 ft to 13 feet long and they fit. The only complaint I have is how the tarps attach to tarp pole. To solve the problem I took two Stainless Steel split rings / key rings and attached them to each other. The small slip ring just fits over the silver end of the tarp pole end and can not slide over the larger black larger section of pole and the larger slit ring makes it easy to attach a micro binner to hold the tarp. I then used several heat shrink tubes on the silver tip end part of the tarp pole to keep the split rings from sliding off. They can be removed but they will not just slide off. I made up about a dozen extras to keep in the storage back. The tarps I have tested so far on the stands are a 13ft Warbonnet Super Fly and 11 ft Mamajamba; a Underground Quilt 13 Dr Winter Dream, OES McCat tarp, Wilderness Logics Old Man Winter, and some 13 ft DIY tarps

So, I previously left a review that was 4 stars. My hammocks - all 11 foot - were not working well with the stand. For the record, I have a couple of lower end hammocks and a Dutchware Chameleon with 9 inch continuous loops. I use the Chameleon with Spider Straps and Beetle Buckles, but I didn't use my straps on the stand. To get anything approaching a really good lay, I was so far off the deck my feet couldn't reach the ground trying to get out of my hammock (granted, I'm 5'1" so there is that). The other hammocks have similar connectors, though I have them set up for slightly different straps. I did try the daisy chains in the beginning and had really bad results with it - mostly because of the length of the CLs around the cinch end of my hammocks. Now - I've been dumped more than once using daisy chains (stitching failure) so I don't trust them at all. I prefer cinch buckles. I haven't tried Whoopie Slings yet. I did try hanging off the CLs and that was a little better, but not stellar. I still had calf ridge and couldn't get a really comfortable diagonal/flat lay. I tried the various tricks given in YOBO's video tutorials to adjust my hang on the stand with varying levels of success that were a little better but not great. I decided to get a dedicated hammock set up for the stand as I will be using it for campgrounds and some other events this summer, so I got the One Wind netted hammock and 12 foot tarp bundle on Amazon (highly recommend, btw, hammock has higher end features for an affordable price) I set it up this morning using the cinch straps included with the hammock. Yes, I know, YOBO doesn't recommend that, but I do NOT trust daisys. The hang in the One Wind was very good and I was easily able to adjust my head end lower with the cinch buckle suspension. I was able to use the Whoopie sling Continuous Ridgeline to adjust my ridgeline tension (so much easier than using a 'biner) and I was able to achieve one of the best diagonal lays I've experienced in a hammock to date. In addition, I was able to reach the ground using the One Wind to get out. Since I can't update my previous review (or I can't figure out how) I'm leaving a new review. Thanks YOBO, for a great product.

Quick setup! However, I need to figure out how to do it solo in the wind. I was doing great until I started staking the tarp and once one side was anchored, the other end toppled. It's always windy in SD and I'm sure if next time if I stake down the tripods first it will work better (or the middle of my tarp instead of the ends). I wish the straps were skinnier, I'm nervous they'll slip off the stand. I'm going to order continuous loops or dog bones (depending on the length I decide on) from Dutch. Maybe there's a future improvement to use amsteel or some other narrow option from the package. Overall it's a great stand! Worked great on uneven terrain. Slightly heavier than my swiftlet, but I no longer have to remove my ridgeline and make other adjustments between trees and stand. I debated this vs trekking treez and went for speed of set up (at this stage I'm setting up then getting kids set up and not really backpacking anymore so time was worth the weight). I'm super pumped for the next trip in a couple weeks!

Store owner replied: Hi Jennifer! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this review. We are glad that you're overall happy with the addition to your camping gear. A couple things that may be helpful: 1) When setting up in wind, we always stake the stand down *before* putting any piece of fabric on it. That way it can't go anywhere when you attach the hammock & tarp. 2) We do sell some much thinner dyneema daisy chain straps on our website that work awesome with Turtlebug. I'm not sure if this link will work here, but you can copy/paste if it's not active: https://yobogear.com/products/daisy-chain-straps-24-set-of-2 Happy hammocking!

The shipping was quick, and thanks to the video you had on youtube, the initial setup was pretty quick. This thing is built like a tank, and I hung one of my favorite hammocks while it was set up in the garage, and the lay is just about perfect. I'll tweak it a little more once I actually get it outside and camp with it a few times. All in all, I'm super happy with this purchase!

I'm loving my newly acquired Turtlebug Camper! I just received it last week, and have already taken it to the beach for spring break! As advertised, it set up very quickly and easily, after doing the initial set up at home before we left. Also as advertised, be sure it stake down the stand in windy conditions. I didn't, and it was interesting to say the least getting into the hammock, as it just acted as a giant sail in the ocean breeze. Once in the hammock though, it was quite sturdy and comfortable. This stand will absolutely be going along with me on many camping trips this summer. It's going to be fun!

I have several hammock stands and this is by far my favorite. It is lighter, easier to transport, and easier to setup and take down than other options. Due to blizzards and such I haven’t had a chance to setup outside yet, or try the tarp attachments, but I have set it up it in the basement several times to try it out. I find it to be very stable and love the various options for attaching the hammock. Using the included short straps with a carabiner to form a loop and utilizing the top hooks of the stand makes hanging any hammock super easy. Looping the straps through the existing hardware, in this case cinch buckles, is perfect since I don’t have to change or remove anything when switching between trees and stand. I think the Turtlebug ticks all the boxes for a stable, portable hammock stand.

Trees may not always an option for me to use where I camp so your hammock stand is always stowed in the airplane. I went on a canoe float trip during October 2025. 8 days on the Ozark Scenic Waterways sleeping on sand and gravel bars. I hammock but had to sleep on the ground in a tent (no trees) Great trip. When I got home my facebook feed started including Yobogear Turtlebug Hammock stands including a guy that used the stands on his float of the Grand Canyon. AI knew what I wanted. Of course I watched all the videos. Then I pulled the trigger. Since getting the stand I put my whole rig on it and got it like I like it. Next float trip I will be in my hammock! Btw I have a Warbonnet Blackbird XLC with 3/4 underquilt and a 20 deg top quilt. Supefly tarp. All Warbonnet. I like that the stand all fits in a small bag that can easily be carried in a canoe or in a trunk for car camping. That’s all I got to say about that.
