I finally had a chance to set up my Hive in the basement, and now I feel extremely fortunate (almost guilty) for getting it at the Kickstarter price (backer #45). Having built a handful of DIY swing-set-style & tensahedron hammock stands, I’m VERY impressed with Hive. I needed to shorten the top bars and the legs, to clear some ductwork at the basement ceiling level, and doing so was super easy (just a few “clicks” on each section) and there’s still oodles of room to accommodate my 11′ “Sparrow” by Dream Hammock.
I have yet to try my Dutchware 12′ Netless hammocks, or my AMOK Draumr XL (v1) ( a 90-degree hammock), or to set up the Dutchware Gear screen room & tarp, but based on (a) Yobo’s great videos, (b) what others have posted in “The Neighborhood” (Yobo Gear’s FaceBook group), and (c) my experience with previous Dutchware purchases, I’m sure they’ll work perfectly, too.
If I ever need another Hive then I think their price is completely fair, especially considering there’s nothing else you can buy that will hang 2 (or 3) 11′-14′ hammocks, with no staking or tethering needed, and that packs down small enough that you don’t need a pickup truck, roof rack, or forklift to hit the road with it. Function is king with the Hive, but the form factor certainly is not lacking. Even Hive’s carry bag, with its tapered construction and ABS polymer reinforced end panels, speaks quality.
The fact that, with a niche product in a niche market they raised well over $300K between Kickstartarter & Indiegogo, speaks volumes. I’m happy to add my voice to many others in saying you won’t regret it getting a Hive. Great work, Cal & Kristen!

Travis, this review is excellent! Thank you, first of all, for backing Hive during the crowdfunding stage. Thank you also for understanding and conveying here how impressed you are with the function, form, and benefits of the Hive. It makes us so happy to have produced a stand that really serves the community! We appreciate you!

I just got the Hive from kickstarter. The set up was super easy to do with the video instructions even for a female that is all of 5’2”. I have been using it as my “bed” for the past week and I have had no issues getting in or out of it. It doesn’t budge at all. It easily handles my almost 20 lb cat jumping on me while in it.

Thank you Brooke! That is what we love to hear. We are glad Hive is working so well for you. 😊

Very impressive, the physics and geometry are inspired, and really work. It looks like it should be shaky, but it’s solid as a rock and beautiful to boot. Setup was easier and faster than finding correct hammock hanging straps, unlimbering the hammock, removing tarp, winter cover, and clipping on.
P.S. Do not leave setup inside without hammocks on, or maintenance people will tell you they are not comfortable in your place while you have the giant bondage rack setup.

😂😂Omg that’s hilarious! Love it, and thank you so much for the review!

This stand is a game changer for me….I own the ENO Nomad, Tensa4, Freedom and even the Cricket Stand in addition to various poles. My Hive arrived today, it was very easy to set up and is sturdy. I didn’t struggle with the pins to collapse the poles like I did with the Cricket. Kristen has provided just excellent customer service when I had multiple questions about the Cricket stand. No questions with the HIVE, I highly recommend. I like the height for standing under a tarp and the space to enter/exit my hammock. It has been an expensive progression for me but this stand was worth every penny to pursue yet buying one more stand.

Thank you so much for this review! We’re glad you’re happy with both the Hive and the customer service, especially with your extensive experience with all the different models of hammock stands!
