Don’t Let Your Hammock Down

Hello, and welcome to part two of our series on hammock hanging basics. At YOBOgear, we want all hammock enthusiasts to have a convenient, lightweight accessory to aid them in their hammock hanging endeavors. The result of this desire led to the creation of the YOBOgear Hammock Stand, the world’s most lightweight and durable hammock stand. In today’s post, we are going to go over a few more things to keep in mind when hanging your hammock and how the YOBOgear Hammock Stand can assist in this task.

Hanging a Hammock Requires Solid Anchor Points

One of the most important things to keep in mind when hanging a hammock is the stability of the anchor points. While this includes the object that you anchor your hammock too, there are other factors that can affect the effectiveness of the anchor points. Continue reading below to learn more.

  • Hanging Method: So you have an awesome new hammock, now where are you gonna hang it? Are you going to use tree straps to secure your hammock to a tree? Are you going to attach your hammock to a vehicle or existing post in the ground? Are you going to try and rig up your own hanging method with some spare cordage? Whatever method you choose, it is pivotal that you are confident the anchoring method will support your weight for the duration of your stay in the hammock. (Don’t wanna have your relaxation session come to a crashing halt, right?) We love using tree straps. Not only are they gentle on precious tree trunks, they are adjustable and easy to use. If you’re using this method, be sure that the tree straps are tightly wound around the tree and that they pull slightly downward when you sit in the hammock. When using the YOBO Hammock Stand, hanging becomes even easier. Simply secure one end of your hammock to the solid aluminum top ring of the YOBO Hammock Stand and rest assured that your hammock is secure.
  • Protection: Another thing that people have to consider when hanging a hammock is whether or no they are going to need any additional protection. While it is fun to lay in a hammock on a warm summer night, it’s not so fun if it starts to rain. Because of this, many hammock enthusiasts will carry a lightweight tarp or rain fly to use as a cover for their hammock. As with the rest of the hammock hanging process, you want to be sure that your rain fly is secure. This can be difficult to accomplish with simple cordage but, luckily, the YOBO Hammock Stand offers a perfect solution to this problem. Either attach your tarp directly to the solid aluminum top ring or attach the optional Tarp Extension rod. Either method provides a secure anchor point for your tarp, eliminating the worry that it will slip during the night or blow away.

We hope that this short blog series has shown the importance of proper hammock hanging techniques and how the YOBOgear Hammock Stand can help in ensuring that your hammock never loses its footing. If you would like to learn more, sign up here for our e-mail list. Happy Hammocking!

Any updates on time frame or price for you Hammock Stand? Is there a waiting list for when it is available? I’ve been waiting/watching for a while but don’t want to miss when it does become available then find myself way down on a list to get one. I am in the email newsletter but don’t have or want Instagram/FB for any updates.
